National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu have issued a wind advisory for the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea summits through Tuesday morning.

Forecasters called for northeast winds around 25 mph to 35 mph with localized gusts topping 50, mph, according to the service. The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of at least 45 mph or gusts of 55 mph are expected. The service cautions that winds this strong can make difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
